The Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ

OPENING PRAYER

Lord Jesus Christ,

as we gather together at the start of this day,

we thank You for the gift of Your Body and Blood —

the Bread of Life that sustains and nourishes us.

May the Eucharist be the source of our strength

as we serve the children in our care.

Fill us with Your love, Your patience,

and Your grace in all we do today.

Amen.

The Word of the Lord

SCRIPTURE

For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the night he was handed over, took bread, and after he had given thanks, broke it and said, 'This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.'

In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.'

For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes.

Reflection

Bread for the Journey

As teachers and staff in a Catholic school, we are called — like the disciples — to take what we have and give it freely. In today's feast of Corpus Christi, we celebrate that Jesus gives Himself completely to us in the Eucharist. He holds nothing back.

In our work with children, we are invited to do the same — to pour ourselves out in service, trusting that God will multiply our efforts, just as He multiplied the loaves and fish.

Today, let us ask: How can I be 'bread' for the children I serve? How can I nourish, sustain, and bring life to those around me?

Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray for...

the children in our school — may they know they are loved by God and nourished by His presence.

our families — may they find strength and comfort in the Eucharist and in community.

those who are hungry, in body or in spirit — may they be fed.

our parish community — as we celebrate Corpus Christi together, may our faith be renewed.

ourselves as educators — may we draw strength from the Body of Christ to serve with joy.

all those who are sick or suffering — may they experience God's healing presence.

THE LORD'S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven,<br>hallowed be thy name;<br>thy kingdom come,<br>thy will be done<br>on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses,<br>as we forgive those who trespass against us;<br>and lead us not into temptation,<br>but deliver us from evil.

CLOSING PRAYER & BLESSING

Lord Jesus, Bread of Life, thank You for gathering us here together. As we go to our classrooms and our work today, may we carry Your presence with us. May everything we do be an act of love, offered to You and to those we serve. Bless our school, our children, and our families. Send us forth nourished, renewed, and ready.

Amen.

May the Body and Blood of Christ keep us all safe for eternal life. Amen.
