When do we use Present Simple?

Example: I wake up at 7:00 every day.

The Golden Rule: He, She, It

When the subject is He, She, or It, we add S, ES, or IES to the verb.

כאשר הנושא הוא He, She, או It, מוסיפים S, ES או IES לפועל

I / You / We / They

play / eat / go

He / She / It

plays / eats / goes

Rule 1: General Spelling

For most verbs, we simply add 's'.

לרוב הפעלים, פשוט נוסיף את האות s

Run ➔ Runs

Eat ➔ Eats

Love ➔ Loves

The dog runs fast.

הכלב רץ מהר

Rule 2: Adding -es

If the verb ends in: ss, sh, ch, x, o, or z

:אם הפועל מסתיים באותיות הבאות

ss / sh / ch / x / o / z

Fix ➔ Fixes<br>Go ➔ Goes<br>Watch ➔ Watches

Rule 3: The 'Y' Rule (-ies)

Consonant + y

Drop the y and add ies

תורידו את ה-y ותוסיפו ies

Cry ➔ Cries<br>Fly ➔ Flies

Vowel (a,e,i,o,u) + y

Just add s (Don't change it!)

רק תוסיפו s - אל תשנו כלום

Play ➔ Plays<br>Buy ➔ Buys

Negative Sentences

I, You, We, They

DON'T

I don't like horror movies.

DOESN'T

She doesn't like salad.

Important: Verb without S!

חשוב: אחרי doesn't הפועל חוזר לצורה הרגילה בלי S

Questions: Yes / No

Do / Does + Subject + Verb?

Do you speak English?

?האם אתה מדבר אנגלית

Does he play football?

?האם הוא משחק כדורגל

Remember: With DOES, remove the S from the verb.

Common Mistakes

❌ He go to school.

✅ He GOES to school.

❌ She don't like milk.

✅ She DOESN'T like milk.

❌ Does he likes pizza?

✅ Does he LIKE pizza?

Be careful with the S!
