Online Training & Deployment
Stage 1: Written Exam
Dec 13/14, 2025. Requires G2 License & Proof of AEMCA/College Diploma.
Stage 2: MMI Evaluation
Jan 5–16, 2026. Submit License, Abstract, OASIS, & References.
Conditional Offer & Base Hospital
Post-January. Sunnybrook Orientation, Medical Checks, & Final Clearances.

What Happens Next?
That’s it! You’re all set to start patrolling as EMS at any time. EMS Supervisors are regularly online to monitor performance and provide guidance.

Mandatory Documentation
• Ontario Driver’s License (Class G2 or better) • AEMCA Certificate or College Diploma • Clean Driver’s Abstract (3-Year History) • Valid CPR, ITLS, & PHTLS Certifications
CRITICAL FAIL CRITERIA: More than 3 demerit points or any license suspension in the last 3 years results in automatic disqualification.
Physical Readiness (OPPAT)
The Ottawa Paramedic Physical Abilities Test (OPPAT) simulates high-stress field demands. Valid post-Dec 1, 2025 for the current cycle.

All interactions are governed by the Ontario Ministry of Health BLS/ALS Patient Care Standards. Verbal scripts ensure clear communication with Dispatch and Hospital staff.

Standard Departure Script

Arrival Update Script

Primary Survey: The 'Doorway' Script
1. Scene Safety: "Is the scene safe? Hazards? wire/fire/gas/glass?"
2. PPE: "Gloves on. Masks if respiratory symptoms."

Core Clinical Skills (PCP Scope)
Resuscitation
High-performance CPR, Defibrillation (AED/Manual), & Airway Management (OPA/NPA/SGA).
Trauma Care
Spinal Motion Restriction, Hemorrhage Control, Splinting, & Burn management.
Pharmacology
Symptom Relief Meds: ASA, Nitroglycerin, Epinephrine, Glucagon, Salbutamol, Naloxone.
Continuing Education & Advancement
• Field Mentorship: 6-week consolidation period with a senior preceptor. • Base Hospital Certification: Annual maintenance through Sunnybrook (OSCEs). • Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP): Opportunity for further education after gaining field experience.
