Higher Education Strategy: Current Status & Roadmap for 2026

About IIC

Established by the Ministry of Education (MoE) in 2018, the IIC aims to systematically foster the culture of innovation and start-up ecosystems in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). It addresses challenges such as unplanned activities and underutilization of creative potential by engaging faculty and students in ideation, problem-solving, and proof-of-concept development.

Strategic Objectives

<ul><li style='margin-bottom:30px'><strong>Ecosystem Preparedness:</strong> Streamlining the I&E ecosystem within the institute.</li><li style='margin-bottom:30px'><strong>Ecosystem Responsiveness:</strong> Creating pathways for quality innovation and responsive support mechanisms.</li><li style='margin-bottom:30px'><strong>Ecosystem Performance:</strong> Achieving sustained generation of innovations and entrepreneurs.</li></ul>

IIC Performance Trajectory (JSSATE)

A significant year-over-year improvement in IIC scores, culminating in a 4-Star rating for the academic year 2023-24. This reflects increased engagement and activity execution.

Comparison of activities suggested by the IIC versus actual activities conducted at the institute. JSSATE has shown immense initiative, particularly in Self-Driven Activities which go beyond the mandate.

Roadmap 2026: Thrust Areas

<strong>Q1 & Q2 (Validation):</strong> Workshops on Design Thinking, Critical Thinking, and Problem Identification.

<strong>Q3 (Prototyping):</strong> Business Model Canvas (BMC), Prototype development, and Market Fit analysis.

<strong>Q4 (Scale Up):</strong> Start-up ecosystem building, Angel Investment introduction, and Accelerators.

<strong>R&D Focus:</strong> Awareness on TRL (Technology Readiness Level) and IP Filing workshops.

Call to Action: Faculty Contributions

Faculty play a pivotal role in the IIC ecosystem. We need you to:<br><br>1. Serve as <strong>Innovation Ambassadors</strong>.<br>2. Mentor students for the <strong>YUKTI Challenge</strong>.<br>3. Guide Mini/Major projects towards patentable outcomes.<br>4. Ensure IIC logo presence in all department programs.
