From Cave Walls to Computers: The Journey of Writing
An SST Project by Janaki Abil - Grade 3
How Did It Start?
Long ago, people didn't have paper or pens.
They needed a way to share ideas and stories.
Cuneiform: Writing on Clay
This is one of the oldest writings! People in Mesopotamia used a sharp stick to press triangular shapes into soft clay tablets.
Egyptian Hieroglyphics
Ancient Egyptians used pictures to write! They drew birds, eyes, and wavy lines to represent sounds.
Chinese Characters
In China, people used brushes and ink. Their writing is like art.
Indus Valley & Arabic
Indus Valley Script
Found on square seals. It is still a mystery today!
Arabic Script
Beautiful curved lines creating words and art.
